Public Notice - Drones

12 December, 2016

The use of small unmanned aerial, marine and terrestrial vehicles, i.e. drones, for commercial and/or personal purposes, will require a license by the Information & Communications Technology Authority (“ICTA”) in particular circumstances. If the small unmanned vehicle has radio and/or video capability, which operates in certain frequencies, the operator may require a license from ICTA.

Under Section 23 of the Information and Communications Technology Authority Law (2016 Revision) (“the Law”), ICTA has the power to grant licenses.  ICTA’s power to grant licenses are in regards to, among other things, the provision of ICT services over ICT networks.
